The Red Thread of Your Life
How to Recognize Your Patterns and Rewrite Your Story
Do you know that feeling when the same situations keep repeating in your life? Almost as if you’re running in circles, experiencing the same lessons over and over again? Maybe you’ve asked yourself: Why does this keep happening to me? Why do I keep ending up in the same place, even though I want to do things differently?
What if I told you that these repetitions aren’t just coincidences? That they are part of a deeper life plan, preparing you for something essential?
There is an invisible red thread running through your entire life. A pattern that, like a hidden web, connects all your experiences. If we don’t look closely enough, we won’t even see it – and we just keep living in those repetitive patterns. But once we take the time to look deeply, we realize: These “coincidences” are direct clues to our soul’s path.

My Own Red Thread
I know exactly what I’m talking about because I’ve experienced it myself. Until the age of 46, I kept inviting people into my life who, at best, were hot-tempered or disrespectful, and at worst, physically abusive. Again and again, I encountered the same type of person. And I kept asking myself the same question: Why always me? Why do I keep running into these a…holes?
It wasn’t until a breakdown in 2017 that I finally found the right path. I had to realize that the red thread in my life was abuse and violence – a pattern that had begun as early as the age of six. A traumatic memory, deeply buried in my unconscious, shaped my entire life. Unconsciously, I moved through life as a victim and kept attracting more and more people and experiences that confirmed this victim mindset.
The truth is: I am not a victim. I always had the choice of how to deal with my experiences. I always had the choice to choose what I think, feel and how I act. And I had to learn that every one of these painful situations held a lesson for me. That I could learn something from all of it. Today, I can give courage to others and help them recognize and break their own patterns.
The Power of the Red Thread
Maybe you’re asking yourself now: But how do I recognize my own red thread?
The realization came to me when I allowed myself, for the very first time, to consciously look at my patterns. Suddenly, one puzzle piece fit into another, and I realized: There is a red thread running through my entire life – a trail of experiences that made me the person I am today.
Maybe you have already discovered similar patterns:
- Toxic relationships: A lesson about self-love.
- Hot-tempered or abusive bosses: A lesson about self-worth and boundaries.
- Unexpected mentors at just the right time: A lesson about leadership and divine guidance.
And that’s what it’s all about: Your life leaves traces. Your patterns are not coincidences – they are messages.
Running from Yourself – A True Story
Let me tell you about Simone, a woman who had been running away from herself for years without even realizing it. She had moved so many times in her life that she couldn’t even remember how often. Twenty-three was a rough estimate. Again and again, she fled from situations, people, and problems. Her thought was always: “In the new city, everything will be better. I’ll start completely fresh.”
But as soon as she arrived, the old patterns caught up with her again: conflicts at work, interpersonal problems, and loneliness. Only after countless moves did she start working with me. We took a moment to pause and consciously look at it: Why does this keep happening? Why does she never feel at home?
The realization came suddenly and painfully: No matter where she went, she always took herself with her. The external circumstances changed, but the internal patterns remained the same. Everything was driven by a pronounced need for harmony, rooted in a difficult childhood. “Just get away quickly when it gets tough.”
Slowly, we untangled the red thread and uncovered the real needs behind the constant moving. This insight changed everything. Today, Simone has accomplished something she couldn’t have imagined for years: She has found her place – not just geographically, but deep within herself.
Instead of constantly pushing away the problems, she began to accept and resolve them. For the first time in her life, she felt truly at home – not in a specific place, but within herself.
The Insight: Your Red Thread as a Gift
When you know your red thread in life, it loses its power. You can actively start shaping your life instead of following old programming. You become the creator of your life. You make peace with what you can no longer change, but you begin to take charge of your future.
Imagine your red thread as a dense, tangled knot. With every conscious moment and every realization, it untangles – until it becomes a clear, straight line that guides you forward. Your red thread not only shows you where you’ve come from – but also where you are meant to go.
How to Find Your Red Thread
And you can do the same. Take a notebook today and reflect on the different phases of your life. Write down the defining moments of your life – the ones that keep repeating, the ones that always give you the same feeling.
Ask yourself:
- What is life trying to tell me?
- Which pattern do I finally need to recognize and resolve?
Your red thread is not your curse – it’s your gift. It shows you your path in life.
