Soul Contract

Soul Contract: Why Some People Don’t Enter Your Life by Accident

What do you believe—where do you come from? And where will you go when your body one day ceases to exist?

Whether you believe in the Universe, in God, in Allah, or in the Quantum Field—at the core, all these names carry the same essence.
And whatever you believe is true—for you.

I personally believe that we are souls having a human experience.
That we are here to awaken—to remember who we truly are.
Some call this process awakening.
One perspective that has helped me immensely on this journey is the idea of a soul contract.

A Soul Contract Can Define Your Train of Life – and Who Rides with You

Perhaps you know the beautiful metaphor of the train of life:
People get on, others get off.
Some accompany you for just a moment, others stay for a long time.
And like in a real train, they eat, talk, sleep, or argue—some leave behind chaos, others bring peace.
And sometimes the conductor even has to escort someone off the train because they didn’t have a valid ticket.

Life works the same way.
We often assume that family automatically means the deepest connection.
But what if we consciously chose every single one of our fellow travelers—before we were born?

A Soul Contract is A Very Personal Experience

I want to share something with you.
When I was six years old, I went through a traumatic experience—the most extreme violation a child can suffer. I was raped by multiple people.

I don’t share this to shock you.
I share it to show how deep the concept of soul contracts can go—and how radically it can return healing and responsibility to us.

So can I say: I chose this?
That I made a contract with the soul of the perpetrator so I could grow through this exact pain?

It’s a heavy thought.
But it gives my suffering meaning.
I remember a contribution I once made during a Conscious Advent series, where I shared my story and said:
Today, I see it as a gift.
Not the event itself—but what it shaped within me.
I’ve become a beautiful human being. And perhaps because of that experience.

Back then, a psychotherapist sent me angry emails—“in the name of the victims,” she wrote.
But what would it do to me if I saw myself as a victim for the rest of my life?
Wouldn’t I be giving away all my power?

Soul Contracts – An Invitation to Remember

A soul contract is an energetic agreement we make before we are born—with other souls.
It’s as if we write the script of our life and cast the roles:
Who will be my mother? My child? My greatest teacher? My deepest pain?

Sometimes I imagine how it might have looked—like a casting call.
And yes, maybe some souls even volunteered for the role of the “villain.”

With my story, I believe I have the right to see it this way.
And I have the right to speak it out loud.

The Three Types of Soul Contracts

There are different kinds of soul contracts:

Primary Soul Contracts:

Parents, children, partners—and also adversaries and enemies.
These are the people who come very close to us and leave a lasting mark on our lives.

Secondary Soul Contracts:

Teachers, mentors, friends.
People who are present for a particular season and have a significant impact.
I think here of my Latin teacher, Frau Gretsch.
I was terrible at Latin—but gifted when it came to Roman mythology.
She gave me back the belief that there’s always a way, if you’re willing to look for it.

Tertiary Soul Contracts:

Brief encounters with a powerful effect.
For instance, a potential client once confronted me—without meaning to—with her suppressed rage.
She helped me trust my intuition, simply by being who she was.
We only had that one conversation, but I’ll never forget her.

Growth Through Friction

As souls, we don’t only grow through love—we grow through friction, too.
Breakups, job loss, betrayal—these can all be part of a soul contract.
I once heard someone say that most successful people don’t come from wealthy families,
but from situations that forced them to rise up and walk their own path.

That makes sense to me.

Today, I’m happy with my husband—and grateful that I had so many experiences in past relationships.
Our relationship today benefits from everything I’ve learned.
Yes, many of those experiences were painful.
But they led me to where I am now—into the arms of this beautiful man.

Maybe pain really is part of the soul’s plan.

And What If You Are the “Villain” in the Soul Contract?

But what if we are the ones who hurt someone?
What if we lie, leave, or betray?

I’ve done that.
I broke someone’s heart.
Not out of cruelty—but out of honesty.
And today, I know: that person is happier than ever.
I was a mirror. A catalyst.
The one who stirred something deep within another soul.

Could it be that we also make soul contracts to trigger others?
That it, too, is an act of love—when we help someone recognize themselves?

Have you ever been the “villain” in someone else’s life story?

How to Recognize a Soul Contract

They say there are three unmistakable signs of a soul contract:

  • Recurring dreams
  • Intense emotional reactions
  • A sense of relief or closure— even if it hurts

And What If We Don’t Fulfill the Soul Contract?

What happens when we don’t speak our truth?
When we stay stuck in the victim role?

Life brings it back to us.
Again and again.
The lesson repeats itself—until we’ve understood it.

Unresolved, bound energy moves in spirals—just like our lives do.
People, patterns, situations will keep returning
until the contract is fulfilled.

A Simple Exercise for Energetic Clearing

If you’d like, you can do a very simple yet powerful exercise:

Draw two figures on a piece of paper—
one represents you, the other the person you want to release.

Now connect the two figures with lines.
One for every hurt, every word, every emotion, every tension that exists between you.
Really feel into it.

Then ask yourself:

  • What was I meant to learn through this person?
  • And what did I give to them?

Now say:

Thank you. The soul contract is complete.

Cut the paper in half.

And end with:

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So it is.

Your Life Belongs to You

You hold the power—at any moment—to take your life back.
To release the victim role and begin again.
Even if what happened was devastating.

The perspective of soul contracts can help you clear your energy field
and reconnect with your soul.

And your soul… has been waiting for you all along.

I love this concept.
It helped me see my life in a whole new light.

What about you?
Do you believe in soul contracts?

If you feel there’s something still waiting to be understood or released—stay close.
I regularly share insights and spaces to help you return to yourself.

Let’s walk this path together—
and remember who we truly are.

With love,
from soul to soul,
Annie
